:: About me

I am a Bulgaria-born, Brooklyn-based multimedia editor, photojournalist, and writer, driven by a passion for creative visuals, science, technology, climate change, politics, art, architecture, anthropology, the written word, and a true sense of equality. Additionally, I offer a robust language acumen as a polyglot reporter, writer, and science copywriter; proven experience in team leadership and project management; and certified training in UX/UI Design and Generative AI Prompt Engineering, Foundation Models/Platforms, and Ethical Applications.

Whether in a historic context or just beyond the surface of mundanity, I always aim to harness the power of visuals, words, and design with style and meaning. As an immigrant to U.S. shores, I also very much care to bridge humans’ understanding of one another—and to connect the work I do as a woman in various male-dominated industries, to how other women manage throughout the world.

My visual and writing clients have included National Geographic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Foreign Affairs, Forbes, Getty Images, Reuters, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The City.nyc, The 19th, Bloomberg, Yahoo News, AFP, Rolling Stone, Nature, Discover, New York magazine, Shutterstock, Sports Illustrated, TIME, USA Today, and the Chicago Tribune, among others. I have received awards from PDN’s Photo Annual, NPPA, American Photography, and TED's Visualizing Climate Change contests; grants to further my projects from the National Geographic Society, the Pulitzer Center, the International Women's Media Foundation, Getty Images + Panasonic Lumix, and Leica Camera; and have exhibited in shows by Leica Camera USA, Photoville, the International Center of Photography, and Bulgaria's National Gallery of Art. I have also taught journalism and photography courses and organized and led workshops through the Pulitzer Center, Brooklyn Public Library, NYU, Fordham University, and Leica Camera USA, and have illustrated visual campaigns for Edelman, Rubenstein PR, Starbucks, BBDO Worldwide, Getty Worldwide, Cloud9, Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP, Lexington Partners, Mt. Sinai, United Airlines, CUNY, Twitter, and SoulCycle.

In complement to my newsroom expertise, I’ve autonomously and collaboratively ideated and supervised a long list of innovative multimedia projects, grant-winning initiatives, photo exhibits, and journalism classes/workshops, via Leica Camera, the Pulitzer Center, the International Women’s Media Foundation, and Brooklyn Public Library, prioritizing a timely and resourceful delivery—from concept, to budget, research and licensing/assigning, on-the-ground and remote execution and logistics, post-production, and on-deadline publication. This is because my ancillary verbal and written language skillsets not only help connect storytelling text to visuals, but also craft attention-grabbing captions, direct but diplomatic feedback, and secure project funding through creatively ideated grant proposals.
